But it is not until you meet the owner and artist Kevin Stephens that the peaceful surroundings truly make sense - they are as much an extension of his calm, yet confident personality as the machine seems an extension of his skilled artist's hands.
These were once welder's hands, but it has been more than a decade since Kevin traded the blaze of the welder's arc for the brilliant colors of his tattoos. It began when he hung around with a good friend Ronny Hebert who did tattoos. Being artistically-inclined himself, his curiosity soon took over and he began inking tattoos on willing friends and family members. His natural ability ensured his success and it was only a short while later Kevin began his professional career as a tattoo artist.
Still, working for others in Moncton-area tattoo parlors failed to satisfy Kevin, and he knew to fully express himself, both through his artistic talent and his surroundings, he would have to go it alone - and thus Crescent Moon was born on Feb. 1, 2003. |
